If you can’t view the video above, here is what our DC jeweler has to say about this intricate piece:
“This is a gentleman’s timepiece done by Corum. This is part of their Admiral’s Cup Collection. What makes this unique, or the Admiral’s Cup Collection in general, is it’s named after a sailing race that started in the mid-1950s. Some of the interesting details, other than the guard to make sure the crown is screwed in tight, are other various things like that, with the great engraving details on the watch. But what really sets it apart is the flags on the dial—very distinct, very known. These flags are an international symbol that they use in boating or any type of marine to communicate with each other. So, these are actually the numbers of the regular number sets—12, 1, 2, 3—in button flag form. So this is an international code system. The Admiral’s Cup Collection is inspired by the prestigious sailing race that originated in the mid-1950s. Corum, known for its innovative and distinctive designs, created this line to honor the sport and its global significance. What sets this watch apart is the combination of its engineering excellence and nautical aesthetic, making it a must-have for any watch enthusiast.”
DC watches for your collection
One of the most striking details of the Admiral’s Cup watch is the incorporation of nautical flags on the dial. These flags serve as an international maritime code, used in boating to communicate essential messages. On this watch, the flags represent the numbers on a traditional timepiece—12, 1, 2, and so forth—translated into vibrant flag designs. This feature not only highlights Corum’s creativity but also pays homage to maritime traditions.
